Birmingham Youth Empowerment Project is 'A dynamic and engaging arena that inspires children and young people to be active community members and productive and responsible citizens.' Our core activity is to mentor youngsters, which will help lay the foundation for a healthy transition into adulthood. We aim to mentor students by using a holistic approach. We are an approved provider by the Mentoring and Befriending Association, are BACP and Ofsted registered.

Our BYEP New Start Project is an alternative education provision that works with children who are at risk of exclusion, or who have already been excluded from school. We tailor our support focusing on the essentials which include; parent and child communication, challenging behavioural issues, special educational needs and education health plans. Using a holistic approach allows us to pave a better future for the child, focusing on each aspect of each child’s life.

We use child-centred approaches to evaluate and identify each child’s specific needs and requirements, we then match these to one of our qualified mentors. We also have well established links with local organisations and educational authorities which helps us to gain as much information as possible to guide and mentor the child on the path to success. We want children to enjoy all aspects of childhood, therefore we also have an after school and holiday club which runs through our Turn The Page Education Services.

These clubs allow children and young people to use their creativity to express their feelings and we have found that this is an integral part of our service as sensory stimulation is key for all children, especially those with autism, ADHD, Asperger's syndrome. Not only do we focus on the child but go a step further to help parents grasp our children centred approaches. We help frame the child’s mind-set, but we do not forget that a parent’s mind-set is also important. Therefore, we offer mentoring and training to help parents progress further too.

BYEP also provides other services for children and young people including Counselling Services.
