Address details
Organisation BID Services
Address Deaf Cultural Centre Ladywood Road
B16 8SZ
Birmingham

We are working hard to ensure we maintain our support to people wishing to access Education, Employment & Training during this difficult period and want to assure you that our service will remain open, with all our Employment Team still working from home.

With the Deaf Cultural Centre closing, we are no longer able to offer face-to-face support, but we can still support you in a number of different ways.

Remember, we support people who are profoundly deaf, hard of hearing, deaf blind, visually impaired, have a disability or a long term health condition.

We will do our utmost to continue to provide you with a high quality service and to communicate with you in appropriate ways to meet your needs.

If you are an existing client accessing either PURE, STEP Ahead or our Volunteer Coordinator please contact your Coach directly using their mobile or email address.

Employment

The Government advice is to stay at home, but if you are interested in employment during this time, there are many employers in a variety of sectors with many urgent employment opportunities including:

Retail – Supermarkets are looking to recruit thousands to help ensure food is reaching people

Care – there are many people that require urgent care

Fruit pickers

Volunteer opportunities - with the NHS

We can support you to access these opportunities.

Also, for those affected by the Coronavirus, who may have been made redundant. We can support you to access employment in a new sector until things return to normal.

Education & Training

For those unable to leave their homes, we are working with people to ensure they are ready to take up work once this situation has ended. We are supporting people to improve their skills through online training, including:

- Confidence
- CV and application form preparation
- Interview preparation
- Behaviour in the work place
- Travel training
- Access to work
- BSL for international learners
