FREE Carer Sitting Service

Our partners at Midland Mencap run a sitting service whereby a trained person sits with someone so the carer can take some time away fromcaring. The sitting Service will undertake agreed tasks including keeping a vulnerable or disabled person safe by supporting and supervising them; offering companionship and conversation; supporting someone in their own home or to get out and about, dependant on need & if safe to do so.
There are some care tasks that the Sitting Service cannot undertake such as personal care, transferring someone and administrating medication, but it’s also worth enquiring because an alternative care service may be an option.
For a limited time only Forward Carers has received funding to offer the Sitting Service FREE to carers, this is for a maximum of 10 hours between the hours of 8am – 9pm, then an hourly rate would be applicable should you wish to continue with the service, at a time that you can request, subject to availability. This is intended to make a real difference in the quality of life of carers. You may want to use this service so you can leave your loved one and get some much needed ‘Me-Time’. Perhaps you want to attend a carer support group or training, attend an important appointment, or perhaps you just want to meet a friend for coffee or other social activity. If it will make a difference and provide a small break then get in touch today.
