Women are assigned a support worker as soon as they enter the refuge. Risk assessments are conducted immediately upon entry to ensure the safety of the women and her children. The key worker will then conduct an induction for the women and will work with the women to form a support plan. The support plan will include emotional (counselling), practical (including accessing and applying for welfare benefits), physical and mental health (registering with a GP or help with drug and alcohol issues), and obtaining a local school or nursery place, help with accessing further education, training or work.
