Birmingham LGBT is delivering independent domestic violence advocacy and support for LGBT people in Birmingham, funded by the Henry Smith Charitable Trust.
This is the first LGBT-specific domestic violence service to exist in the Midlands, and is a much needed addition to the area; domestic violence occurs in one in four same sex relationships, and affects many trans* people too.
Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling behaviour that escalates in frequency and severity. It can include (but is not limited to) physical, emotional, sexual and/ or financial abuse, within the context of an intimate or family relationship.
