Two specific job-seeking courses are currently being delivered. They are designed to ensure learners are able to have confidence dealing with statutory bodies, apply for jobs and have the confidence to go to interviews. They help tenants prepare to take on college courses and to look for work. This work is funded by the European Social Fund Skills Support for the Unemployed as part of a sub-contract with City of Bristol College.
The Job Club is the mainstay of our supported training provision. It builds links between tenants and external agencies and enables them to meet their claimant commitment for Job Centre Plus, thus securing their benefits. The Job Club enables Ashley Community Housing to bring in mainstream agencies and our own support staff to support tenants on a range of issues.
Ashley Community Housing have now expanded the support provided to the job club by partnering with the National Career Services which will see a careers adviser attend every month. As part of our growth plans we are looking to further develop our relationship with the National Careers service to become a subcontractor and be paid to deliver careers advice to our tenants.
