What is the service?
This service funded by Children in Need provides direct family support for parents with a learning disability. Our experienced specialist family support worker will offer practical advice and support in the home to help parents with a learning disability improve their parenting. This will give better outcomes for the children in their care. We will work intensively with the family for up to 6 months. We will adapt our support based on the family’s learning needs and the strengths and limitations of the parents.
Who is eligible?
To receive this support a parent needs to have a learning disability or difficulty and live in Birmingham. The parent needs to have their children in their care and have areas in parenting that we can help them improve.
Do we assess?
No, we are not assessors, we will not offer recommendations. We offer intensive family support. We will feedback the family’s progress at official meetings and take note of any concerns from professionals which will aid us in offering the appropriate support.
How to refer?
You refer by calling us on 0121 440 4685 and making a referral. You can also email any enquires to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. We will take referrals from any professional, family member or self-referral. Please note that this is a FREE but limited service and there may be a waiting list.
