The hospice’s Bereavement and Well-Being Team provides a service for both adults and children. The team includes bereavement counsellors, an art psychotherapist and the spiritual care lead.
The team can see people at home, in the hospice or in the house in the grounds called Stone’s Throw. Support is provided for patients and for their families before and after their loved one has died.
John Taylor Hospice’s Heart of the Hospice day service offers a space for people with palliative and end of life conditions to take a break, relieve symptoms, regain confidence and make friends.
Groups meet weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and can include a range of activities from arts and crafts to games and films. Heart of the Hospice has also hosted visiting theatre companies, craft groups, choirs and speakers.
Day hospice visitors are able to access other John Taylor Hospice services including specialist nursing, Pari Passu pain clinic, the Fatigue, Anxiety and Breathlessness Programme, physiotherapy and acupuncture, pharmacy, occupational therapy, patient and family support and well-being. We also offer a range of complementary therapies including Reiki, therapeutic massage and ‘M’-Technique.
